11th-12th August camping meet, Borrowdale

Postby Tom_J » Fri Jul 21, 2017 3:30 pm

Hi Everyone,

The next camping meet is on the 11th-12th of August at Chapel House Farm campsite in Borrowdale.

Information about the campsite is here: https://www.chapelhousefarmcampsite.co.uk/index.php

Why come to Borrowdale?

1. Climbing

There is plenty of great climbing on the doorstep, from amenable roadside crags (https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=747) to single pitch classics (https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=2335), to extreme climbing (https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=753). Getting up to Great Gable is also possible
and the via ferrata at the Honister slate mines is not far away, if you fancy trying something a little different.

2. Walking

From lakeside walks to England's highest tops, there is a bounty of fantastic walking.

3. Cycling

Whinlatter Forest Park is a short drive away, with mountain bike trails and bike hire.

3. Swimming

Blackmoss pot (http://www.wildswimming.co.uk/map/blackmoss-pot/) is a short walk from the Langstrath Country Inn, which in turn is within easy reach of the campsite. What could be finer than a bracing dip in clear mountain water, followed by a warming drink in the pub?

4. The Pencil Museum, Keswick

Say no more.

Post below if you are planning to come.

If you are looking for a climbing partner please mention it below - it would be good for climbers to be paired up before the weekend to make the most of this fantastic venue.

Not sure I need it for a camping meet?! I've never seen it on a camping meet before and it would only get soggy.

Well I was given it for the Wasdale meet that was not! ;-)

I think it was kicking about on the Langdale meet as well.

Yes - it usually goes on all meets, whether at a hut or camping. If nothing else, it's used to keep a log of peoples' destinations or plans for the day.

I'm planning to come to Borrowdale if the weather is OK :)

I also intend to attend, and will bring Lisa if she has stopped pooping behind the telly.

Is this the 'pooping behind the telly' meet?
Surely you can solve these issues by getting rid of the telly?
