Anglesey Outdoor Campsite 9 - 10th June

Postby John McMahon » Thu May 18, 2017 9:14 pm

This is a lovely spot with loads to do.
Apart from the spectacular sea cliffs, many of which have none tidal access, there is Coasteering, Canoeing, Coastal Walking, Cycling and more climbing on Holyhead Mountain, which is nowhere near the sea.
There is an excellent bar, serving really good food right on the site.
The walking around the coast of Anglesey has some of the most beautiful and lonely areas of the country, with forgotten beaches and loads of wildlife.
If anyone wants to book on coasteering or canoeing courses at the site the details are below;
Address: Porthdafarch Rd, Holyhead LL65 2LP
Phone: 01407 769351
John McMullen did the coasteering course last year and really enjoyed it.
Post below if you intend to attend.

Cheers

I'm definitely interested too - it's going to be a bit weird returning to sea-cliffs though...

Note that it's also the weekend of the Llanberis tradfest.

Cheers,

I think Vicky and I plan to head over for this. We may have some lift shenanigans but will understand closer to the time.

I'm interested in coming on this meet. Sounds like a great campsite.

I'm keen to climb, if I can team up with anyone competent who is happy to do some easier climbs (VDiff to VS). Possibly head into Snowdonia for the day if the weather's good, as I've done Holyhead Mountain to death a bit.

I'll come if the weather looks ok, but I'm not climbing on any sea cliffs.

Sea cliffs are fine - some of Britain's finest climbing can be found there, in fact, there may be more routes 'round the edge' than 'in the middle' - it's just the sea itself that's the problem...

Bet they were sh*tting themselves with the downdraft from that copter!

So... who is planning on climbing sea cliffs and who's got the two Ground Up guides (Gogarth North & South)?

I have Gogarth North and a lent copy of the old Gogarth guide. I hope to get on the sea cliffs.

I have Gogarth North and South, Ground Up guides. I've also got a couple of North Wales guides that include it. I'll bring them all.
High tide is around 12noon, so access to most of the tidal climbs will be accessible from 3ish.
Cath will be coming and will be walking or cycling, so anyone else up for that, come along.

Cheers
